New Delhi, August 2, 2026: Indian judokas Rohit Majgul and Harsh Tokas had a memorable outing in Glasgow this past week as both made their Commonwealth Games (CWG) debut.
While the duo did not win a medal, both put in commendable performances. Harsh (-81kg) won his repechage bout by ippon against Samoa’s Peniamina Percival, before narrowly missing out on the bronze medal after losing to Australia’s Keishin Ochi in the bronze medal contest.
Meanwhile, Rohit (-66kg) lost two close matches by a single point to Petros Christodoulides of Cyprus and England’s Michael Frayer, after securing a win against Mozambique’s Samuel Ribeiro by Ippon.
Though they missed out on medals, their grit on the mat was well appreciated by Indian judo fans, who praised them for fighting till the last second.

– Round of 16: Beat Samuel Ribeiro (MOZ) 101 – 2 by Ippon
– Quarter-Final: Lost a close 1s1 – 0s2 to Petros Christodoulides (CYP)
– Repechage / Bronze Final: Lost a close 1-2s1 match to Michael Fryer (ENG) to finish 7th overall
Harsh Tokas’s campaign in Glasgow:
– Round of 16: Bye
– Quarterfinal: Faced Georgakis (CYP), fought hard but went down 0s2–1s2
– Repechage: Bounced back with a dominant 101–0 win over Percival (SAM)
– Bronze medal contest: Narrowly missed out, losing 0s2–100s1 to Ochi (AUS) to finish 5th overall
